The kingdom of God and his justice was the central topic of Jesus’ preaching. It began to gain meaning from the preaching of John the Baptist and was reproduced in each of the apostolic message. The evangelists registered in their writings that the basic message revolved around the phrase “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand“.
However, although interested in proclaiming about the Kingdom of God, his constant references that the kingdom manifested itself in direct relation to the person of Jesus; his interlocutors quickly understood that his message did not refer to the kingdom of Israel. Today we understand that the Kingdom of God, also referred to as Kingdom of Heaven, is a Christological concept that is introduced as part of the kerygma of the good news. Jesus declared to his disciples that His Father assigned him a kingdom and that He would do the same with them.
